Assistant Psychologist/Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills Trainer

This post would suit Assistant Psychologist or experienced DBT Skills Trainer.

The Heathcotes Group is an experienced provider of residential care for adults with over 300 bespoke placements across 40 specialist services in the UK. We have been a trusted partner to over 50 local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups since 2004.

We provide person-centred specialist residential accommodation for adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Conditions, Prader Willi Syndrome, Mental Illness and Personality Disorders.

We have also, recently developed two Specialist Personality Disorder Treatment Services and we are in the process of developing a Children’s Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established Clinical Team consisting of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist/DBT Therapist, a Specialist Occupational Therapist/ DBT Therapist and part time DBT Skills Trainers.

The main focus of the role will be as part of the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Team in the Specialist Personality Disorder Treatment Services in Nottingham and Leeds, but there will also be opportunities to carry out work in our other services.

DBT team is based at Heathcotes Hembrigg Park in Morley near Leeds and at Heathcotes Moorgreen in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.

Hembrigg Park is a Specialist Residential Treatment Service for women with Learning Disabilities and a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

Moorgreen is a Specialist Residential Treatment Service for men and women with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

The residential treatment service opened in July 2016 and we have been running the DBT since January 2016. We offer the DBT to up to eight residents in each service with the opportunity to offer the therapy to residents from other Heathcotes services.

The successful applicant will be based at Moorgreen or Hembrigg Park, and will be expected to be able to travel to other services.

The role is to work as part of the DBT Team facilitating and co facilitating the DBT group, attending the fortnightly DBT Consultation Group and helping the service users to generalise their DBT skills within the home and the wider community.

The successful applicant will also be expected to facilitate other activities and therapeutic groups within the homes.

Previous experience using DBT, working with personality disorders, learning disabilities or with Individuals experiencing mental health conditions would be beneficial to this post.

The post is 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday) with the possibility of working occasional weekends.
